For a virtually indestructible deck that lasts a lifetime, RHINO DECK® hardwood-Ipe is a beautiful choice. Its distinctive markings, smooth even texture, and warm golden highlights, create the richness of teak without the maintenance.

Five times harder than pine, cedar and redwood, RHINO DECK® naturally resists rotting and decay. Its unique strength and durability eliminates the scarring and twisting that can occur with softer woods when exposed to everyday traffic and changing weather. In fact, this species was the material of choice for the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk when it was rebuilt in 1981. The species used for RHINO DECK® has a high natural resistance to termites, decay, marine borers, and mold. It has earned the highest natural durability rating (25 years plus) from the U.S. Agricultural Forest Products Research Lab and has been as resistant to fire as steel or concrete.

Specifications

Natural Durability
The natural oil resins contained in this hardwood make it impermeable to preservative solutions, even when applied by pressure vacuum systems. Naturally, RHINO DECK® is harvested using the most up-to-date environmentally responsible sustained yield forestry techniques.

Easy Maintenance
A wood stabilizing agent should be applied to the deck before it is exposed to sunlight. Simply keep the pieces, which have not yet been installed under a tarp. Apply the sunscreen agent during or after each section is installed. Two coats of a penetrating oil finish are suggested. Apply annually or as needed.
